We are grateful to these sisters for their years of joyful and loving service to those around them. The formal celebration will take place in September with a Mass shared with family, friends, and all the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine.

70 Years: Sr. Elizabeth Schur

Sr. Elizabeth Schur, CSA, first entered religious life on February 2, 1946 from St. Bernard Parish in Akron, Ohio.  Formerly known as Sr. Marie Bernard, her educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts from Akron University, and a Master of Arts from Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana.

Sr. Elizabeth has devoted herself to many ministries in the Cleveland diocese.  She spent four years teaching fourth and fifth grades at St. Joseph School in Cuyahoga Falls, followed by one year at St. Luke School in Lakewood.  For thirty-four years, Sr. Elizabeth was on the faculty of St. Augustine Academy in Lakewood, where she taught art.  Beloved by her students, Sr. Elizabeth was recognized for her years of teaching in the 1990 fall edition of St. Augustine Academy’s magazine, Highlights.

Sr. Elizabeth also shared her talents for five years in Activities Department of the Regina Health Center.  From 1998 until 2009, she acted as a care giver at the Holy Family Learning Center.

Sr. Elizabeth currently resides at Mt. Augustine.  Two of her art pieces, renderings of community patrons, can be found hanging outside of the Heritage Room.

We give thanks for Sr. Elizabeth, and thank her for her many years of service and love.
