The Caritas Service Award is given every four years to an individual who embodies and exemplifies the charism of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine. We are very pleased to announce that year’s recipient is Dee Dee Chewning, RN, SNP, NCSN.
The award will be presented on Saturday, September 24 at Mt. Augustine. The service will be held during the annual CSA Founders’ Day celebration, where we will also give thanks for the 70th jubilee of Sr. Elizabeth Schur, CSA.
Dee Dee truly lives a life of generosity and untiring service. In 1992, Dee Dee became the first director of Providence Hospital’s program, “Seeing is Achieving.” The program grew under Dee Dee’s direction, transforming into Health Reach, and now Healthy Learners, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine Health System.
Dee Dee also joined the Board of Trustees of the Sisters of Charity Foundation, serving nine years on various committees and as the Board Chair. Presently, she remains on the Program Committee of the Foundation.
Congratulations, Dee Dee!
